How to Foster

Twin Cities Pet Rescue does not have a facility, so animals that we rescue live in foster homes until they are adopted. We need volunteer foster homes that will care for animals who are waiting for their adoptive homes. Foster homes are needed for dogs, cats, and small animals of all types and ages. If you have room in your heart and your home, please consider fostering an animal.

Why Foster?

When you foster, you save a life. We rescue animals from high-kill impounds, over-crowded shelters, puppy mills, and situations of abuse and neglect. Many of these animals would otherwise be euthanized if they were not rescued. We are only able to rescue animals for which we have an available foster home.

There is no cost to you to foster. We provide food, supplies and veterinary care to all foster animals.

In return, you get to experience the joys of living with an animal without the lifetime commitment. Want a friend, but not able to adopt? Not sure if you are ready for a pet? Not sure how your current family members (two- or four-legged) will do with a new pet? Fostering an animal allows you to experience the joys of living with a pet without the lifelong commitment.

As a foster home, you provide:

  • Love to your foster animal
  • A home environment while your foster waits for their adoptive homes
  • Transportation for your foster animal to vet appointments, adoption events, or meet and greets
  • Training and socializing for your foster animal
  • Information and updates to Twin Cities Pet Rescue about your foster animal
